Your Fruit Is Feeding or Starving You—and Everyone Around You
Day 2—The Eternal Power of God’s Word
Psalm 19 | John 4:13–14 | Matthew 5:6
Jehovah Shalom:
The Word satisfies every hunger and restores peace to the soul that seeks Him.
An Honest Look at Our Fruit
An apple tree does not look at an orange tree and curse God for making it bear apples.
Nor does it consume its own fruit.
So why do we envy others whom God is using?
Why do we waste or hoard the blessings He gives us?
The fruit God bears through you is not just for you.
As image-bearers, His Word fills us so others can taste and see His goodness.
Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6).
Everyone hungers. Everyone thirsts.
The question is—what are you feeding yourself with?
Most people live on a steady diet of comfort, noise, pleasure, distraction, and entertainment—only to wake up empty again and again.
But the Word of God is the only place where hunger becomes strength and thirst becomes peace.
A Wake-Up Call
I remember my first year of college as if it were yesterday. Cue the music.
I was free—free from taking seven classes a day, free from attendance requirements,
and free to read whatever I wanted.
So I started reading for the first time—I was nineteen and had never read much.
I devoured self-help books, leadership books, and financial management books—everything I thought would make me a future CEO. There was nothing wrong with those books. The problem was that they became my idol while the Bible went back on my shelf. What happened next?
My actions soured. My life hit dead ends—relationally and spiritually.
Then, by His endless mercy, God called me back to His Word.
This time, I refused to get up until He spoke.
Thirteen years later, He’s still speaking—and the fruit is transforming not only me but the people and environments around me.
Revelation, Not Just Information
What I discovered is that information without intimacy is starvation for the soul.
Scripture is more than information.
In Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, it becomes revelation.
It doesn’t just teach you about God—it brings you to God.
Relationships influence identity. Identity influences purpose. And purpose stays grounded no matter the assignments (jobs) you have in your life.
Without the Bible, creation would still whisper His existence, but you’d never know His heart.
The Word turns wandering into worship and longing into life.
“But I’m Not a Reader…”
Maybe you say, “I hate reading—it’s not my thing.”
I once said the same.
I couldn’t focus, couldn’t wake up early, and couldn’t stay consistent.
But those are lies the enemy plants to keep you from hearing the voice of God.
Ask God to make you a reader.
Ask Him for the energy to pursue Him.
Pick up an NASB, NIV, or ESV Bible and read every day in the same spot, at the same time—for twenty-one days.
Make it a habit, and you’ll never look back.
The life you want is found in the PRESENCE you’ve been avoiding.
Living Water
Jesus told the woman at the well,
“Whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst.”
Every time you open Scripture, you drink from a well that never runs dry (John 4:14).
Ever. For eternity (Matthew 24:25).
Every time you meditate on His Word, your soul is strengthened.
Every time you obey His Word, peace grows.
Never Finished Challenge
Read Psalm 19:7–11 out loud. Then ask:
What hunger have I been feeding with the wrong things?
Where is Jesus inviting me to drink deeply again?
What one habit can I start this week to let His Word fill me?
Write this each morning (preferably in the morning):
“Lord, today I choose Your water, not the world’s.”
What Does Today Say About God?
He is the God who fills.
He doesn’t give drops—He gives rivers.
He doesn’t offer samples—He offers the full meal.
He doesn’t tease your hunger—He satisfies it.
Jehovah Shalom meets you at your well, in your weakness,
and turns your thirst into worship.
Thank You, Jesus.

Brother this is a powerful reminder because Jesus Himself taught that what fills our hearts eventually shapes our lives Luke 6 : 45 says a good tree brings forth good fruit and that fruit blesses everyone around it When we open the Word we are not just reading we are drinking living water from Christ who said whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst John 4 : 14 The Psalmist says the law of the Lord is perfect refreshing the soul Psalm 19 : 7 and blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled Matthew 5 : 6 The world feeds us distractions but only the Word gives life Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God Matthew 4 : 4 When we draw near to Scripture we are drawing near to Him and He meets us with peace strength and purpose So brother keep eating from His table each day because His Word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path Psalm 119: 105 May the Spirit help us hunger for His presence more than anything else and may the fruit He grows in us bring others to taste and see that the Lord is good Psalm 34 : 8
