You are a SIGN!
The Holy Spirit doesn’t just empower signs — He makes us the sign.
Why did God use people for signs — and how can we become the right kind of sign for others?
A preacher.
A father.
A man.
A public sign.
Martin Luther King Jr. was all of these and more before he ever became a statue, a public sign never to forget.
He could’ve picked up weapons. He could’ve led violent riots.
Instead, he unclenched his fists.
He turned the other cheek while marching through mobs.
He preached love while being spat on.
He held onto hope and led a transformational movement that grabbed the attention of the world.
His life, like the prophets before him, became a living sign.
Etched into history like Amos and Isaiah, his courage pointed people beyond politics and pain to the King.
To some, he looked weak.
But to those with spiritual eyes, he was a sign—a reflection of Christ’s meekness, filled with supernatural courage.
And the same Spirit that empowered him lives in you.
The world still needs signs.
And God still sends them—through people.
Through you.
From Creation to the Cross, God has always used people as signs.
From the very beginning, God has moved through people, prioritizing relationship, speaking through lives surrendered to Him. Whether through prophets, suffering servants, or everyday families, He reflects Himself through us.
The greatest sign of all?
Jesus.
“This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel… and to be a sign…” — Luke 2:34
He is the unimaginable culmination of God’s love.
And now, that same Spirit lives in you and continues through His Church.
📖 Psalm 71:7
“I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge.”
Possibly spoken by David in his later years, this verse is a reflection of someone whose life has become a visible testimony of God’s faithfulness. The believer didn’t just survive — God’s sustaining presence transformed them.
✅ Sign = A life that reflects God's power to transform, not just preserve.
Even if death tries to have the last word, God still makes a way. He always has the last word. He is the Word.
📖 1 Corinthians 4:9
“For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe…”
Paul understood what David had once declared.
He saw his suffering as theater, not for self-pity, but as a mirror pointing to Christ.
The apostles’ lives embodied the upside-down Kingdom Jesus preached:
Weakness reveals strength. Death brings life. Foolishness unveils wisdom.
✅ Sign = God’s Kingdom displayed through suffering and humility.
📖 Isaiah 8:18
“Here am I, and the children the Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty…”
Isaiah and his children (whose names were prophetic) weren’t just a family — they were living messages. Their identities, their roles, their presence carried spiritual weight.
✅ Sign = A family that testifies to God's message through identity and obedience.
You Are A Sign
We as believers are signs to the world—every day—because the Holy Spirit lives in us.
Like David, Isaiah, Paul, and yes, even MLK—you are a living sign.
Not the source of light, but the reflection of it.
A mirror that points to power, hope, and resurrection life.
When the world watches you:
forgive when there’s no justice,
love when you’re hated,
lead your family with humility,
give radically,
speak boldly,
suffer well,
and worship in the dark...
A divine photosynthesis begins in the hearts of those who witness it.
Like plants reaching for the sun, people start to open toward the Light.
And when they do, it lasts forever.
Never Finished Challenge: Begin Today!
You may long to be like MLK, Paul, or David.
Don’t.
Be you — the you that shows up in God's presence daily.
Not the "YOLO you."
Not the distracted, half-in version.
But the one who opens their Bible every morning and prays:
“God, what do You want to show me today? I’m Yours. Use me.”
If you struggle to build that daily rhythm, don’t be surprised.
Here’s what might be happening:
You’re not asking God for help.
Your flesh is fighting for control.
The enemy is trying to graffiti your sign.
But here's the truth:
God doesn’t need us to accomplish His plan — but He chooses to include us.
And when we pursue Him, He shapes us into divine reflections of His love and power.
📖 What Does Today Say About God?
Helper.
Jesus promised:
“I will send you a Helper…” (John 14:16–17)
To be partnered with the Helper, the Spirit, and the King of Kings—
That is humbling.
Despite my weakness, despite my sin, He chooses to use me as a sign.
So today, I praise and thank Him:
What a Father.
What a Friend.
What a King.Thank You, Jesus.
