What Was Once IMPOSSIBLE Is Now POSSIBLE!
“He who walks righteously and speaks with integrity, Who rejects gain from fraud and from oppression, Who shakes his hand free from the taking of bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed And shuts his eyes to avoid looking upon evil;” Isaiah 33:15 AMP
How Can an Impossible Path Be One of Hope?
Isaiah 33 is a chapter of hope, with a standard—walking righteously, rejecting corruption, and turning from evil—is impossible for humans to fully achieve on their own. So how is that hopeful?
Because God never commands what He doesn’t also provide a way for.
1. Hope in a Clear Path
God never hid what He desired from His people. In a time of corruption, injustice, and fear, He made righteousness clear THEN and makes it clear NOW (a seventh, the Holy Spirit—which makes it possible to walk in these ways):
Walk in righteousness → The Spirit guides our steps. (Gal. 5:16)
Speak truthfully → The Spirit gives wisdom and boldness. (Eph. 4:29)
Reject dishonest gain → The Spirit convicts and leads to justice. (John 16:8)
Stay free from corruption → The Spirit builds integrity. (Gal. 5:22-23)
Guard what we hear → The Spirit gives discernment. (Phil. 4:8)
Turn away from evil → The Spirit keeps our hearts pure. (Matt. 5:8)
This was not a mystery—it was a call to live differently than the world so they could see God. Even though it was humanly impossible to do perfectly, it was a path forward that led to God's protection and peace.
2. Hope in God’s Strength, Not Ours
The impossibility of perfect righteousness isn’t meant to discourage—it’s meant to drive us to dependence on God.
The Israelites couldn’t overcome Assyria by their strength.
They couldn’t manufacture righteousness through religious rituals.
They had to trust God to do what they couldn’t.
This is the pattern throughout the Bible:
Abraham was called to be the father of a great nation, but he couldn’t make it happen himself.
Moses was called to lead Israel, but he wasn’t strong enough.
David was anointed as king but had to wait on God’s timing.
Do you want true hope? This hope isn’t in human ability but in God’s faithfulness—ultimately, Jesus.
3. Hope in the Coming King
Isaiah 33:17 says, “Your eyes will see the King in His beauty.” This is ultimately a prophecy of Jesus—the King who would walk the impossible path for us.
Jesus lived the righteousness we couldn’t.
Jesus defeated sin and death so we could follow Him.
Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit so we wouldn’t have to rely on our own strength.
What was once impossible is now possible through Christ. This is why Isaiah 33 is a chapter of hope!
Never Finished Challenge
The world still calls us to fear—fear of loss, fear of failure, fear of standing alone. But God calls us to fear Him alone and trust that His Spirit will empower us to walk the path He set before us.
1️⃣ Are you relying on your own strength or the Spirit’s?
It’s natural to still operate out of self-reliance because that’s what we’ve always known and that is what the world teaches from the first set of right and wrong answers we get. But Jesus didn’t just save us and leave us to figure things out alone—He sent the Holy Spirit to live within us.
Galatians 2:20 – "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me."
Instead of trying to be "good enough" or "strong enough," we are called to surrender and let the Spirit lead. This means praying, reading the Word, and trusting that God is at work in you even when you don’t feel strong. How often? Daily!
Never Finished Challenge 1: Ask God daily, "Holy Spirit, guide me today. Help me to rely on You instead of myself."
2️⃣ Are you discouraged by the impossible, or hopeful because Jesus made a way?
When life feels overwhelming, it’s easy to focus on what seems impossible—but that’s where faith begins! Jesus specializes in the impossible!
Luke 18:27 – "What is impossible with man is possible with God."
The Cross itself was impossible—sin separated us from God, and there was no way back. But Jesus became the way (John 14:6). If He made a way for our salvation, He can make a way in our struggles too.
Never Finished Challenge 2: When faced with difficulties, remind yourself: "I don’t have to see the way—I just have to trust the One who does." Pray, "Jesus, help me to trust You instead of my fears."
For your Pocket: The impossible path is only impossible without Him—but with Him, it becomes the way of life and victory.
What does today say about Jesus?
God is not some mysterious puppet master. He doesn’t pull my strings and hide behind the curtain. He opens the curtain and, instead, holds my hand and guides my steps when I reach out and when I follow. He is intimately more involved in my life than I could ever imagine. Thank you, Jesus!
