What God Revealed Then, He Still Is Now

Yesterday’s word—“How to Read the Bible”—reminded us that every Scripture reveals the unchanging character of God.
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.”
—Romans 15:4
When we read the Old Testament, we’re not trying to borrow Israel’s promises—we’re learning the character of the God who made them.
The same faithful God who carried Israel through exile carries us through our own trials today.
The prophets spoke to their generation, but their message reveals the heart of our God.
He hasn’t changed. His mercy hasn’t weakened. His power hasn’t aged. His promises haven’t failed.
Take a minute today and ask:
Where has God’s unchanging character shown up in your story lately?
Maybe it’s His patience in your weakness.
Maybe it’s His provision in your waiting.
Maybe it’s His comfort when you couldn’t see the way forward.
The same God who restored Israel is restoring you.
Never Finished Challenge:
Pause before bed tonight and thank God for one moment of His faithfulness this week.
Write it down.
Share it if it helps someone else see Him too.

Amen! Every part of Scripture really does show us who God is unchanging, steady, and full of love. “His steadfast love endures forever” (Psalm 136:1, ESV) is a promise. He never walks away. Even in silence or struggle, He’s still merciful, powerful, and close.
