The Marriage Without Words
Why We Miss God When We Ignore His Voice – Psalm 19 🌌📖
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands… their voice goes out into all the earth.” – Psalm 19:1–4
I love nature! The sky preaches every single day. Creation bursts with revelation—sunrises that scream wonder, oceans that confidently whisper majesty, endless stars that shimmer with effortless glory. Every element declares, “God is real. God is mighty. God is worthy.” 🌄🌊✨
But that’s just the beginning.
Because while creation declares God's existence, only His Word reveals His character.
📖 The Word That Speaks Back
Psalm 19 shifts in verse 7:
“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul… The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.”
The skies may get your attention—but the Scriptures will transform you. They don’t just tell us there is a God; they show us who He is. They invite us into the deepest kind of intimacy with the Living God.
💍 The Picture That Hit Me
Imagine this: I’m married. I love my wife. I tell people about her, carry her photo, and wear a ring. But—I don’t live with her. I never talk to her. I never sit down to pursue and listen to her heart.
What kind of marriage is that?
Sure, I’d know her. But I’d miss the unfolding intimacy that only comes from daily presence. From a real, living relationship. It wouldn’t be a marriage—it would be a walking illusion that confuses my steps and leaves me distant from the one I love, despite still being married.
That’s what it’s like to say, “I love Jesus,” but never read His Word.
It’s like being in a marriage with no conversation—living off secondhand stories and Sunday sermons, while the most important Person in your life is waiting to reveal more of Himself.
💔 A Conversation That Broke My Heart
Recently, I met a 60-year-old Christian.
We talked about life, faith, and eventually, the Bible. He looked me in the eye and said, “I don’t read it. It’s just boring.”
That moment hit me hard. I didn’t feel judgment—just sadness. But almost instantly, I sensed the Holy Spirit whisper: “Don’t just feel—speak.”
He was a successful businessman, educated by many great scholars… except the Author. His scientific mind was steeped in confusion. I could hear it in his voice.
So I gently shared Psalm 1 with him:
“Blessed is the man who delights in the law of the Lord… he is like a tree planted by streams of water.”
I explained that the “law” refers to the Torah, but the principle applies to the whole Bible—breathed out by the Creator of the universe (referenced 2 Timothy 3:16 as well). 🌍
Then I brought up Psalm 19—how creation declares God’s greatness, but it’s His Word that revives the soul.
Later, my wife said, “God used you.” And that reminder reassured me—I didn’t just mourn that moment in utter dismay. I planted seeds. 🌱
🔥 The Truth
The Bible isn’t boring.
What’s boring is living a surface-level Christian life when Jesus is offering you access to the very heart of God.
🚪 Come Back Inside
Don’t just admire Jesus from afar.
Don’t live outside the house.
Stop walking around with Sunday photos and stories from ten years ago.
👉 Open the door. Sit down. Listen to Him speak.
He’s not silent. He’s not distant. He’s not holding back.
He’s right here.
And He’s far more than you ever imagined.
🏁 Never Finished Challenge
Read Psalm 19 in full today.
Let creation call your eyes upward—and let the Word draw your heart inward. 🙏
Ask God to help you fall in love with His voice again.
And listen—I know this can feel like a real challenge for many of you. I get it!
In high school, I read zero books. None. I couldn’t sit still.
But something inside me said: “You need to learn to read the Book.”
So I asked the Author:
“God, help me read. Help me love Your Word. Reveal Yourself to me.”
That was over ten years ago. Now, seven days a week, I’m in the Word. Not out of duty—but delight. Some days, it still takes a minute to open the Bible, but that’s why I start early, before everything else pulls me away.
His voice through His Word has radically transformed my life. 📖🔥
If God can turn a non-reading, distracted, high-energy dreamer into a daily Bible reader, He can do it for anyone, including you.
This isn’t about reading more—it’s about knowing Him more and living more like His Son.
💭 What Does Today Say About God?
Wow… I’m walking through some hard things right now. And sitting with someone who called the Bible boring—it was like someone mocking my dad to my face.
But God used me. He spoke through me.
He is not initiated by science.
He created science.
He is not intimidated by knowledge.
He is the Word.
He doesn’t play hide and seek.
He reveals Himself to the seeking heart.
What a Father.
What a Friend.
What a King. 👑
Thank You, Jesus.
