THE ATTACK
Day 4—The Power of Being a Tenant

Genesis 3 and Luke 4
Satan’s first strategy and his last strategy are the same.
Push humans from dependency into ownership.
Push children of God into independent self-rule.
This is the core lie under every sin and every collapse of purpose.
He does not begin with distraction or immorality.
He begins with pride.
He begins with identity.
He whispers one idea.
You can be your own source.
GENESIS 3
The serpent’s words to Adam and Eve are not about fruit.
They are about source.
You will be like God.
Translation:
You do not need to depend.
You can run your own life.
You can be the owner.
It is the temptation to self-rule.
The lie of self-sustaining identity.
The shift from trust to autonomy.
The fall of humanity began with the fall of dependency.
LUKE 4
In the wilderness, the enemy uses the same attack.
Not on ability.
Not on morality.
On identity.
If You are the Son of God.
Satan tries to push Jesus into proving Himself instead of depending on the Father.
Each temptation pulls toward ownership.
Turn stones to bread. Supply yourself.
Luke 4:3. Matthew 4:3.Receive kingdoms from Satan. Seize authority without obedience.
Luke 4:5 to 7. Matthew 4:8 to 9.Throw Yourself down. Demonstrate power apart from the Father’s timing.
Luke 4:9 to 11. Matthew 4:5 to 6.
Every temptation carries the same lie.
Be your own source.
But Jesus stays a Son.
He refuses autonomy.
He chooses dependency.
And in doing so, He crushes the serpent in the same place Adam fell.
WHAT IS THE POINT
Satan always attacks identity before behavior.
He attacks dependency before calling.
He attacks your identity as a child of God before assignment.
CALLING
Your calling is the unchanging purpose God gives every believer.
It does not rise or fall with your season.
It does not depend on geography or job or talent.
Calling is who you are meant to be.
Calling is how you reflect God regardless of where you stand.
Your calling includes:
Love God.
Love people.
Glorify God in all things.
Be conformed to Christ.
Walk in holiness.
Make disciples.
Carry His image faithfully.
Calling is identity expressed.
It never expires.
It never shifts.
Calling is your lifelong purpose.
ASSIGNMENT
Your assignment is the specific work God gives you for this moment in your journey.
Assignments change.
Assignments move.
Assignments rise and fall as the Spirit leads.
An assignment can be:
A family to shepherd.
A ministry to build.
A race to run.
A business to steward.
A friend to disciple.
A church role to fulfill.
A city to bless.
A mission to complete.
Assignments are temporary but holy.
Assignments are how you carry your calling in real time.
Assignment is your seasonal task.
It shifts.
It adapts.
It follows the Father’s voice.
HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER
Identity is who you are in Christ.
Calling is why you exist.
Assignment is what you do right now.
Identity is the root.
Calling is the trunk.
Assignments are the branches.
They grow.
They change.
They are pruned.
They are replaced.
But the root never moves.
WHY SATAN ATTACKS IN THIS ORDER
If he confuses identity, calling collapses.
If he weakens dependency, purpose becomes self-driven.
If he distorts calling, assignments become idols.
This was the pattern in Eden.
This was the pattern in the wilderness.
This is the pattern in every spiritual battle today.
The most dangerous temptation is not open rebellion.
It is quite self-reliant.
THE KEY LIE
You can be your own source.
This lie hides underneath:
Burnout.
Anxiety.
Lust.
Financial pressure.
Ministry exhaustion.
Performance identity.
Father wounds.
Striving spirituality.
Insecure leadership.
Perfectionism.
Crushed marriages.
Hidden shame.
Collapsed purpose.
Every chain begins with this lie.
Every breakthrough begins when a child renounces ownership and returns to dependency.
The enemy cannot defeat a believer who refuses ownership and stays a child of God.
THE NEVER FINISHED CHALLENGE
ABIDE. HIDE. RESIST.
If the enemy’s attack is always the same
push you from dependency into ownership
then your defense must stay the same.
This is how Jesus fought in the wilderness.
This is how every disciple stands firm.
RELATIONSHIP → ABIDE
John 15:4 to 5
Everything begins with abiding.
Fruit comes from connection, not performance.
When you abide you reject the lie of self source.
You choose dependence.
You choose presence.
You remain in the Vine.
Daily practice:
Sit still each morning and pray.
Father I remain in You.
IDENTITY → HIDE
Psalm 91
Identity must be guarded.
The safest place on earth is the presence of God.
When you hide you place yourself under His covering.
Before you fight you take shelter.
Before you resist you rest under His wings.
Daily practice:
Pray Psalm 91 over your mind, your home, and your calling.
You are my refuge and my fortress.
PURPOSE → RESIST
James 4:7
Purpose attracts warfare.
Calling draws fire.
Resistance works only after surrender.
Submit to God.
Resist the devil.
He will flee.
Daily practice:
When a lie enters your mind answer it out loud with Scripture.
HOW JESUS DID THIS
Jesus did not fight Satan with emotion.
He fought with the Word.
He could speak the Scriptures because He lived in relationship with the Father.
He said what the Father said.
He trusted what the Father revealed.
He remained in what the Father spoke.
Abide.
Hide.
Resist.
This is how the Son defeated the serpent.
This is how you defend your identity and purpose.
WHAT DOES TODAY SAY ABOUT GOD
Jehovah Shammah.
The Lord is there.
We have reflected on the God who is present.
In every attack and every desire of the flesh one truth remains.
He is there.
Intentionally there.
Drawing you in as Romans 8 describes.
Letting you go your own way as Romans 1 warns.
But He is not here to pin you down.
He is here to love you through it.
His arms are open.
Will you run to Him
or will you hide from Him
What a Father.
What a King.
What a Friend.
Thank You Jesus.
