🔥“More” isn’t out there—it’s found in Him 🔥
Show Up Every Day
I remember a moment during my real estate career when I felt completely empty. No purpose. No joy.
I kept asking God, What is Your will for my life? What is Your purpose for me? Surely this can’t be it—taking one client at a time, showing them houses, and not really impacting the kingdom.
I had many conversations with my wife. She kept me grounded, reminding me that I couldn't rush my career, my path, or the mountaintop moments. I had to get through the valley. I had to learn to be content.
Paul says in Philippians 4:12,
"I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want."
But if I’m honest, I wasn’t really after contentment.
I wasn’t even after kingdom impact.
I was after feeling valuable to others.
And Isaiah 58:3 calls that out.
God Is Not Fooled by Empty Seeking
In Isaiah 58, God’s people are frustrated. They say:
"Why have we fasted, and You have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and You have not noticed?"
They were doing all the right things—fasting, praying, showing up in religious spaces—yet God wasn’t answering.
And He tells them why:
"Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers. Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high." (Isaiah 58:3-4)
They wanted spiritual results without spiritual surrender.
They wanted to hear from God without being changed by Him.
They wanted His blessing without His heart.
Sound familiar?
How many of us show up on Sunday expecting an answer—for our career, our future spouse, our financial breakthrough—but never show up Monday through Saturday to be in His presence?
How many of us pray for change in our circumstances but refuse to let God change us?
The Greatest Employees, Athletes, and Leaders Aren’t Strivers
Some of the greatest people in the world aren’t the ones fighting for promotion, the biggest contract, or the most influence.
They aren’t the ones hustling for status or recognition.
The greatest are the ones who love their neighbor, the ones who serve first, the ones who are like Jesus.
Jesus is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time). But He didn’t demand power—He laid it down.
He didn’t come to be served but to serve, humbling Himself all the way to the cross.
"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant." (Philippians 2:6-7)
That’s real greatness.
And that’s the challenge today.
The Never Finished Challenge: Show Up Every Day
Stop showing up on Sunday only, expecting answers for your career change, your future spouse, or your next big move.
Instead, show up every day in the presence of God for the purpose of reflecting Him and giving Him glory.
Because Jesus never called for part-time disciples. He said:
"Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me." (Luke 9:23)
Daily.
Not when life is exciting.
Not when your prayers are getting answered.
Not when you feel like it.
Every. Single. Day.
That means:
✅ You don’t care about winning the argument. In fact, you’re willing to lose and still love that person through it.
✅ You don’t obsess over a career change. Instead, you focus on being present, making the most of your situation, and glorifying God in the ordinary.
✅ You stop asking What’s my purpose? and start living with purpose—right where you are.
I had to learn this myself.
I had to surrender my need to feel valuable and instead become a vessel for God’s glory—no matter the job, no matter the title, no matter the season.
So here’s your challenge today:
Memorize Luke 9:23
And ask yourself:
Am I seeking God for answers… or for transformation?
You were made for more.
But “more” isn’t out there—it’s found in Him.
Show up every day.
What Does today say about God?
God does not hide Himself.
As a parent, I know how hard it can be to be patient while teaching my daughters how to thrive.
But God—so much more patient than I could ever be—not only shows us how to thrive but how to walk with Him for all eternity.
