I Just Want To Be Alone
Can You Do Life Alone?
Ephesians 2
God put something on my heart about two words in Ephesians 2.
We
Us
Paul keeps saying them on purpose.
Here’s why.
Salvation is personal, but not private.
God does not just save a person. He saves a people.
And God does not play favorites. He welcomes anyone who comes to Him through Jesus (Romans 2:11).
In Ephesians 2, Paul also puts an end to the idea of division.
Jew and Gentile.
Insider and outsider.
Near and far.
Jesus brings people together into one family (Ephesians 2:14–16).
And the ‘we’ and ‘us’ language also kills pride.
Because nobody can boast.
We are saved by grace, through faith, not by works (Ephesians 2:8–9).
God’s Nature
Ephesians 2 shows me God cares for people, not just a person.
He calls us into a family.
He draws near with love that feels personal. Like you are the only one on earth.
But when you meet Him, you don’t become isolated.
You become connected with Him and others.
His love makes you love.
So Where Does That Leave Us?
Here is a picture that helps me.
Private time with Jesus is the fire.
The church is the wind. It gives oxygen.
A small group of believers is the wood. It keeps the fire burning.
All three matter.
You can feel when one is missing.
What I see today is that many people leave the fire unattended.
So when the church hurts them, their faith collapses.
Or they try to live off other people’s faith by attending multiple small groups.
That will never last.
Jesus did not die to make you a casual friend, church shopper, or small group couch surfer.
He died to make you alive. And to make us one (Ephesians 2:4–6, 14).
Never Finished Challenge
First, meet Jesus every morning.
Same seat.
Same place.
Same simple routine.
This will take a lot of the guesswork out of location, time, and place, keeping you focused on Him.
Not to earn His love.
But because you already have His love in Christ.
Second, commit to a local church.
Not a perfect one. A healthy one.
Don’t leave the moment you feel disappointed.
Grow there. Serve there. Be known there (Hebrews 10:24–25).
Finally, find a small circle of believers.
A place to be honest.
A place to be challenged.
A place to pray and grow (James 5:16).
We and us is wired into us.
You are not meant to do life alone.
What Does Today Say About God?
God is not lonely.
God is love.
And God brings lonely people into His family.
Jesus did not just forgive you.
He brought you home.
What a Father.
What a King.
What a Friend.
Thank You, Jesus.
