Why Psalm 99 Reminds Us God Always Answers—Even When It’s Not What We Expect
God is the Answer.
Psalm 99:6,8 reminds us that when Moses, Aaron, and Samuel called to God, He answered them. The people of Israel remembered that God is the one who speaks, guides, forgives, and disciplines. He is not silent. He is the Answer.
I remember when I was twenty-four. Monday through Friday, Bible reading was game-changing. My relationship with God grew deeper, my relationships with others radically changed (in a good way), and my character followed. But Friday night still lingered with its slimy grin, inviting me to pause and “enjoy life.” I’d been down that road before. Staying up late, making excuses, chasing happiness in what never satisfied. Saturday morning came with sadness, not joy. And because I had stayed up all night, I jumped right back into the rhythms of the world, conforming to its worthless model and not God’s.
My next excuse? “Sunday is church—so I don’t really need to read the Bible, because the pastor already did it for me.”
Those lies dwindled with time. My bedtime on Friday and Saturday became the same as Monday through Friday. And with that small act of obedience, my roots went deeper in God.
Now, let me be clear—I’m not preaching legalism. There will be weddings, reunions, and moments to celebrate. But what I am saying is this: stop delegating your character to the world or to your church on the weekend.
Are you looking for answers? Spend time with the Answer.
Why Daily Time With God Matters
Scripture tells us to meditate on His Word day and night (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:2).
Jesus modeled retreat and prayer as a daily rhythm, not an occasional emergency (Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16).
Transformation comes not from dabbling but from abiding (John 15:4-5).
The work of opening your Bible, confessing sin, listening to God’s voice, and obeying what He says is where your character is formed.
It’s not about fitting God into your schedule—it’s about letting Him make your schedule.
Never Finished Challenge
If you missed time with God today, stop and spend it now. This week, from Monday to Sunday, consider cutting something out—maybe football (how could you say that? You live in the South! I know. But is your eternity in football or with Jesus? Is your character struggling?) or scrolling—and give Him that time. Here’s a framework to help (I do 8:30 PM - 3:30 AM, I have children and run ultra marathons, so I need to train, after time with God!):
Bedtime rhythm (8:30–9:30 PM)
Shut off blue light.
Connect intentionally with your spouse.
Open your Bible. Read tomorrow’s passage in advance.
Stretch, breathe, and let Scripture wash over you.
Pray with your spouse.
End the night with Psalm 23 or another passage God puts on your heart. As you drift to sleep, repeat the verse until peace fills your mind.
Morning rhythm (4:30–5:30 AM wake-up)
Begin on your knees: “God, I am Yours. Guide me and teach me by Your Spirit.”
Put on headphones and fill your mind with Scripture affirmations or worship.
Make your bed. Posture your heart.
Drink water or coffee, stretch, and keep worship flowing.
Open your Bible. Before reading, pray:
Forgive my sins.
Give me zeal, wisdom, and understanding.
Increase my faith.
Correct lies, I believe, about your word.
Help me obey what You show me.
Read a chapter or three. When a verse stands out, do SOAP:
Scripture — Write it down.
Observation — What does it mean in context (Original audience, author, etc)
Application — How can I apply it to my life?
Prayer — Pray it back to God.
Does that sound like a lot? Ask God to reorder your schedule so He—not you—sits on the throne of your day.
What Happens When You Do
As I yielded more of my time, John 3:30 became true in my life: “He must increase, I must decrease.”
My character looked more like Christ.
Miracles became more evident—not because they suddenly started, but because I finally noticed.
Joy increased.
And so much more.
And because I spent time with the Answer, I received answers—every time. Even when no answer came, God gave me peace—and peace is an answer.
What Does Today Say About God?
Answer.
He is the Answer. He is everything I need and more. He fills my cup until it overflows.
What a God.
What a King.
What a Friend.

Amen brother what a powerful reminder truly God is the Answer and He never fails those who call upon Him Psalm 34:4 says I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears Just as you shared from Psalm 99 when Moses Aaron and Samuel cried out to Him He answered them and that same God answers us today We are encouraged to draw near daily because “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4) The Lord invites us “Call unto me and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3) May we never neglect the precious gift of time with Him but delight in His Word day and night (Psalm 1:2) so that we grow strong and rooted in Christ
